Menara Maxis is situated on the northwest corner of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre Development adjacent to the 88-story Petronas Twin Towers. The front entrance to the site faces the northeast towards the intersection of Jalan Ampang and what will become New City Hall Drive. The back of the site will be the Kuala Lumpur City Centre podium. The building is 49 stories including three below-grade areas plus parking levels.

The structure is concrete, while the facade is aluminum and glass spandrels with a full sunshade.

The terraces are intended as amenities to the floors they are on, and the trellises above were designed to give shade to the terraces below. The stepping of the tower was introduced to both increase the height of the building and to create a compositional sweep up to the Petronas Twin Towers.

Special functions spaces include a V.I.P. gallery at the 25th floor and an executive dining/100 seat theatre on the 27th floor. The top of the tower is highlighted by a series of stepping trellises and a vertical mast. These elements provide a counterpoint or foil to the strong vertical roof design of the adjacent twin towers and also serves to mask any communication equipment or satellite dishes which may be placed at the top of the building.
